Empowering Children and Communities in Ghana

Many Hopes is committed to transforming the lives of children in Ghana through comprehensive rescue and educational programs. Our initiatives in Ghana reflect our dedication to empowering children to become leaders of positive change in their communities.

Rescue Initiatives in Ghana

In Ghana, we focus on rescuing children from trafficking and slave labor and providing them with the education and care they need to thrive. Lake Volta is the largest man-made lake in the world and there are currently 21,000 children enslaved there. These children are subjected to forced labor in the fishing industry. Our local partner operates rescue missions to bring these children to safety.

Recovery Center in Ghana

After children are rescued, they are taken to the Recovery Center, where their healing journey begins. At the Recovery Center, children receive medical care after years of medical neglect. They are also enrolled in school and counseling programs. For many, this is the first time they’ve been to school.

Survivor-Driven Change

Our approach in Ghana is grounded in the belief of survivor-driven change. By equipping rescued children with education and support, we empower them to become advocates for their communities. These children, transformed by their experiences and education, are positioned to drive sustainable development and positive change in their regions.

Successes in Ghana

We have made significant strides in Ghana, thanks to the generosity of our supporters. Some of our key achievements include:

  • Record Rescues: Conducted the most rescues in a single year, saving 149 children from exploitation in the fishing industry on Lake Volta.

  • Sustained Undercover Operations: Maintained a year-round undercover presence on Lake Volta, enabling more efficient and effective rescues.

  • Residential and Rehabilitation Support: Provided comprehensive care for rescued children, ensuring their physical and emotional recovery and preparing them for reintegration into loving families.

  • Community Impact: Empowered rescued children to become community leaders and advocates, driving positive and sustainable change.
